• NOTION. Spend quite some this week on Notion streamlining the databases and the list views. Essentially Notion (for me) is a database of thousands of records; each tagged to appear in specific List Views. When push comes to shove, the Notion Layer is the most detailed information I can give to the people building IkoCiti.

• HAIER INSTITUTE. The Haier Institute has said NO to collaborating on a series of articles featuring the RDHY model. The reason is that we have already done some articles on RDHY. It is what it is. It is not a setback because there it was a one-off thing. It does make me more aware of the cultural differences. IkoCiti is on the frontline of liberal sensitivities. Much of the world is not ready for that.

• READ TIME. This is a structural problem. I am scanning like a million articles through a host of newsletters. I save them through OneTab but It does not read enough. There are more than 10.000 articles in stock. I must block out around 4-6 hours a week to simply read stuff. I am struggling with it.

THE BAD GUY

Aspiring to build a global social (moonshot) enterprise is a ridiculous venture. The odds of being successful are far below what a sane person would normally accept in life. So the only reason to do it is because you like the process. Working on a super-ambitious start-up is like swimming in dangerous but for me familiar waters full of sharks, piranhas, and blind sicarios.

Around the change of the century, we were building a million+ U$ stock trading platform with partners in Mumbai, India. In those days, only a few companies had a stock trading platform. We were small but ahead of the pack. While our Indian partner (reputable firm) build the platform, we were already selling the future to stay ahead of the herd. We made promises. The Dot.Com Crash knocked on the door. Our reputable partner fucked us bad by reducing the team of 85 developers to a mere 4. They squeezed us like a bird being hit by a Ram Truck.

Who makes the decisions? Who has the power to make the decisions or revoke them? And how does the power structure benefit the key interactions between producers and buyers? We are 99% sure that a traditional top-down command structure will not work. That is no guarantee that other alternatives do work.

The aim is to decentralize the decision-making and to benefit from the collective intelligence of all Mavericks. We need operational excellence to boost the interaction between Maveriqs and Impact Buyers. Thus, decision-making must fortify the production of Peoples’ Impact. Inspired by the RDHY Model, we build an organizational structure in which the global leadership team makes the final decisions but Mavericks and The Board can revoke strategic decisions with a 60% majority vote securing a reasonable balance of power.
