IKOCITI - Empowering The Powerless

IKO = Power/Strength in Hausa

Power remains strong when it remains in the dark; exposed to the sunlight it begins to evaporate.

PROGRESS

- CONTENT MANAGEMENT STRATEGY. Despite the persisting flu attacking me this week, I managed to write one post (see below). The strategy around the content is to build up a certain level of Authority (show you know a little about your business). The posts together with Peoples’ Impact, The Final Revolution (the book) lays down the theoretical foundation for the venture.

- IMPROVING STRUCTURE. Although certainly finished, we have made great strides in improving the underlying content structure. With websites, pitch presentations, notion pages, coda pages, newsletters, Canva design, and other apps, the result is a scattered field of texts, opinions, and analysis. Essentially, all knowledge-based content will be unified in Notion.com - TribeQa Cockpit.

- TRIBEQA COCKPIT. All the knowledge-based content (as opposed to visual content) will be captured in notion.com. Before content was scattered in excel sheets, websites, and pdf/word documents. One of the great advantages is that we scan/search easily through all the content, avoiding the huge problem of repeating the same content over and over again.

- BUILDING IN PUBLIC. A key point in our strategy is to build the venture in public. We are not afraid of people copying ideas (go right ahead), or making stupid mistakes everybody will see. It is all part of the culture will are building right from the start. The Transparency Factor is a key element in our efforts to build up Trust with the outside world. or do we set up a stand-alo

- CODA FOR CRM. The decision is made to use Coda.com as our CRM. Although it would make more sense to integrate it into Notion I am hesitant to put all eggs in the same basket. I am afraid to overload Notion and make it too slow. But the biggest reason for the two sides is that our CRM is quite simple – a digital Rolodex with some key data.

JAMAICA, MENTAL HEALTH FRONTRUNNERS [#38]

FUTURE REALITYI am designing IkoCiti – a People's Impact Platform – to empower the powerless. We empower the powerless with resources to rebuild the barrios (neighborhoods/regions) they live in. We offer them an opportunity to become paid changemakers who design and implement social projects in their barrios. That sounds wonderful but how would it work in real life? Let’s make a journey in the future in which IkoCiti sets up shop in one of my favorite countries - Jamaica.

 After gaining independence in 1962, Jamaica became one of the first countries in the world to take decisive steps to deinstitutionalize its mental health system and integrate it into primary healthcare, despite limited resources. …

Mental health is unfortunately still a sensitive topic all around the world, and certainly so in the Caribbean. But notwithstanding, Jamaica has managed to build a mental health model that is worthy to be reinforced.

KEY QUESTIONS OF THIS WEEK

  • How do we build up a Whatsapp community for the recipients of our newsletter?

  • Should we delete 70% of the (old) contact database of around 4.000 names and refocus on targeting a more relevant audience?

  • Should LinkedIn be our primary social network?

IKOCITI ARCHITECTURE

CAMPUS

One of the key pillars of the Peoples' Impact Philosophy is a broad consensus idea: the best way to fight poverty is through education. The question is 'what kind of education"? The Smart (Education) District is the central nervous system in IkoCiti - its main product is smarter Mavericks. On Campus, Mavericks can follow a wide array of modules on many different topics and they are all based on learn-by-doing.
